Photo restoration is not the same as photo enhancement. Enhancement is editing the photograph to bring out details. Photo restoration is more the process of repairing a damaged or faded photograph.

During the photo restoration process, old, dull and yellow photographs can be brought back to life through careful digital and image manipulation, or even manual brush manipulation. The valuable old photographs of years gone by, as well as old family photographs can be restored so that you can keep it for many years to come, without the photos going yellow and later on getting to such a state that you can't see any of the picture any more!

Photo restoration can range from basic small restoration changes such as removing scratches, cracks, spots and stains, which are all done digitally. If the photograph has more damage than that, such as tears, creases, stains, scratches and markings on the original photo, then the restoration process would be more involved, through careful digital photographic restoration processes.

Should there be major photographic distortions, such as a background change, replacement of a part of the image that is missing, or even removal of certain objects on the photograph, some major photographic restoration will have to be implemented, which could take much longer than a quick job.
